My Motorcycle Injuries

I went to my audiologist this morning for my annual exam. I have really bad hearing and I wear hearing aids. It's not necessarily an old guy thing. I've worn hearing aids since my thirties, and I had an audiologist then who told me that the type of hearing loss that I have is something that I was born with. He said that it would get worse with time, but he also told me that it's something that I've had all of my life but only noticed as an adult. Anyhoo, my insurance company requires that I see an ENT along with my audiologist, but they work together in the same office so it's easy to do. They both told me that I've had no further hearing loss within the past year (unusual, but yay for me), so everyone was happy. However, as the ENT guy was checking me out he noticed a scar on the corner of my mouth. I mentioned a ministry related trip to the Middle East in a post about a year ago. I was supposed to go this past January, but the trip was cancelled last December due to the war in Gaza. It wasn't an issue of safety, but rather a problem with the fact that the flights were scheduled to go through Tel Aviv. The trip was rescheduled for this coming October, and although things remain bad over there, my contact in Israel says that things within the nation are safe enough. We will eventually be landing in Amman and I will be speaking in Jordan and Israel for two weeks. The trip involves an enormous amount of walking, with some of the terrain being uneven and rocky. I have to be cautious to be in good shape because I'll be speaking often and I won't be able to get the job done effectively if I'm feeling exhausted and beaten day after day. Consequently, I've been really diligent to exercise the past several months in order to prepare for such a physically demanding trip....

 One of my brothers-in-law is in the hospital with a very serious condition. It's the same hospital that I was taken to almost ten years ago because of the motorcycle accident. At 51 years of age he has had a stroke. After they cleared out two blood clots from his brain, he had a heart attack. The following day he experienced trouble with his breathing and they discovered that he had a combination of pneumonia and congestive heart failure, along with more blood clots in his brain and heart. Things looked bad for him, but he is now slowly recovering as the medical people continue to work hard while his loved ones continue to pray. I cannot help but to think of what it will take for him to become more fully functional within his physical and mental capacities. His rehabilitation process has already begun, but I still wonder what it is that lies ahead for him as he deals with the aftereffects of these things that have happened to his body. So yeah, the nation is going a little nutty concerning the coronavirus (COVID-19). I absolutely agree that we should be observant, cautious, and responsible. What I don’t fully understand is some of the things currently happening such as the toilet paper rush. My guess would be that people are preparing in case of a mandatory quarantine being put into place by the government under emergency measures. I assume that old leaves and pages from a Sears catalogue just won’t do the trick any more. At least everyone will have enough hand sanitizer to spray on their charcoal grills when the fire won’t cooperate a year from now, right?
