Leaving On A Jet Plane

Image
I'm leaving on a trip this coming Saturday morning. It involves a long journey as I travel from the home base airport  to Atlanta, then to DC, then to Istanbul, and finally to Amman. I'll be spending a few days in Jordan and the better part of two weeks in Israel. Yeah, I know it's dangerous these days but hey, think of the skymiles I'll earn if I live! I've had to shuffle a lot of things in my life to make this trip a reality, but tomorrow I'll finish packing and Saturday at 4 in the morning I'll leave for the airport. It's a good thing that I don't ordinarily sleep much, right?  This trip involves touring with a missionary and helping with a few things from day to day. I know that God's hand is in it, so off I go. (Well, off we go because my lovely wife will be joining me). My body is as ready as it will be, and I must admit that I really don't fear any trouble with my knee, leg, or hip. I'll probably need to walk about seven miles a d...

A Bitter Pill To Swallow

Image
I had an appointment with my cardiologist today. He said that I don't age and that I'm in great shape. The man was completely happy with my health. Nice, right? The appointment went well and the doctor really made me feel good about myself, but then...I asked him about me taking statins. My endocrinologist has been talking to me about taking a statin for years, so I asked the cardiologist what he thought about this because I have an appointment with endo-boy early next week. My cardiologist said that it's a good idea for me to take a statin because of the diabetes. You know, higher risk of a stroke or a heart attack and all. So next week I'll finally submit myself to taking another pill daily, which will make my endocrinologist as happy as someone who's patient will live long enough to continue to support his lavish lifestyle. Yay for him. So I get to add another pill to my daily routine thanks to the accident injuries. I'm waiting for something good to come of...

A New Month

Image
OK, so it's October already. Didn't we just say "happy new year" to each other? Wasn't it just Easter Sunday? Anyway, this month promises to be a bit busy. There are a few challenges that I have to deal with in the ministry, I have a lot of things to balance between work and home, and oh, I'm supposed to leave for a trip to Israel and Jordan in a couple of weeks. I'm doing some missions related work, and the trip has yet to be cancelled. What's a few bombs, right? It'll be like the fireworks at Disney World, only without the background music and a castle. When I return, I'll have to settle a few things in the ministry and get some things ready at home for the upcoming holidays. We're planning on having roughly eighteen people at our home for Thanksgiving, so yeah... pray for me. Anyhoo, this month is going to be a long one and I really feel like going hermit instead. I'm sitting here now typing this blog entry and I feel so worn out aft...
