OK, So I'm Old

Are you old enough to remember the days when FM radio guided your knowledge of new music? Regardless of the genre, you turned on the radio for hours and listened to the songs, all the while saving money in order to buy an album. Radio and albums…crazy stuff. Image result for 1970's stereo

I realize that the music industry is completely different now in the way that things are run, along with the way in which people listen to music, but I can still remember lying in the sand at the beach for hours and listening to the radio without headphones or earbuds. If your bedroom never had a stereo that included a turntable and really huge speakers when you were a teenager, then you probably don’t know the heartache of scratching an album on your favorite song. You’re just a pup.

Related imageThe thing about FM radio was that you had to listen to a bunch of songs that you really didn’t like over and again in order to hear the ones that you actually did like. It always involved the need to tolerate a lot of songs that you considered to be kind of lame and unpleasant. AmIrightoramIright? Repetition defined the airwaves during an era when playlists dominated the format, and you didn’t have all of the alternative options that exist today.

My thoughts? This is what recovery from accident injuries involves. I find myself having to follow exercise and nutritional routines that serve a good purpose, but sometimes turn into mental drudgery as I keep working toward sustaining the proper function of my body. There are days when I feel like turning on the TV and just lying on the couch without exercising at all (well, except for a walk to the fridge). There are days when I feel like eating junk food loaded with sugar for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I sometimes grow so tired of the routines that I’ve had forced upon me. The thing is that my rational side is always required to understand that those routines serve a vital purpose in sustaining a certain quality of life for me.

It’s just that sometimes it would be nice to be able to change the station, you know?
